Leaf Ring Holder Forged to Finish Functional Art
from $34.99
Organic looking Leaf Ring Holders, individually hand forged in rural Appalachia! Perfect for keeping rings, earrings, wedding bands etc organized and easy to find. Some of the listing photos are of the starting material and the forged-finished ring holder (prior to cleanup and finish work). Over the course of several “heats” I use various styles of hammers and some shop made tooling to stretch and thin that small piece of starting material into a large leaf shape. The veins in the leaf are also created over the course of several heats with chisels that I forged myself. After the veins are chiseled in, I hot stamp my touch-mark, and then add some shape to the leaf to make them appear more lifelike. After all Forging is complete any loose forge scale is removed and the ring holder is given a traditional beeswax based finish to help prevent rust. Being a hand forged item each one will be unique and have subtle differences. Iron is the Traditional 6 year wedding anniversary gift, Steel is the 11th year. The words Iron and Steel are almost always used interchangeably in Blacksmithing due to the availability of materials Items that would have been made from Wrought Iron, are now made from mild low carbon steel, the closest we as modern smiths can find readily available.
