Treble Clef Hairpin Forged to Finish Wearable Art

from $34.99
These unique hair pins are individually hand forged by blacksmith Carter Conley in rural Appalachia. These Treble Clef Hair Pin are made with the musician, music teacher, choir director, or music lover in mind. Starting as a piece of 3/16” round steel a taper is forged, then rounded out before being scrolled into the curl that will become the T-clef. After the Treble clef is forged the excess material is forged into the shaft of the hairpin. The Hair pins average around 7 inches overall length. Select a small or large barrette according to your hair type, quantity, thickness etc. I use the smallest size steel possible to keep the overall weight down. These are Forged individually and each one will be slightly different while retaining the same overall aesthetic. After forging the forge scale is removed and the pieces are coated with paste wax at a low heat to give a nice looking finish that also helps prevent rust. Iron is the Traditional 6 year wedding anniversary gift, Steel is the 11th year. The words Iron and Steel are almost always used interchangeably in Blacksmithing due to the availability of materials Items that would have been made from Wrought Iron, are now made from mild low carbon steel, the closest we as modern smiths can find readily available.
