Square Knot Sculpture Forged to Finish Art Piece

from $99.99
This unique sculpture was hand forged in rural Appalachia from over two feet of steel. The Square knot was forged from two sections of 3/8" thick steel, then forge welded together to "tighten" the knot. The base was forged out of 1/4" thick steel plate, a cross peen hammer was used to create a textured edge. This is the type of display piece that gets people thinking "how did they do that"? Being abstract these sculptures are perfect for a waiting room of a business, a desk in an office, or at home on top the piano, or fireplace. After forging and assembly the sculpture is cleaned with a wire wheel to remove forge scale, then given a beeswax based hot finish. Iron is the Traditional 6 year wedding anniversary gift, Steel is the 11th year. The words Iron and Steel are almost always used interchangeably in Blacksmithing due to the availability of materials Items that would have been made from Wrought Iron, are now made from mild low carbon steel, the closest we as modern smiths can find readily available.
