If a silver finish is desired all forge scale is removed to reveal the shiny bare metal below. I then apply several coats of paste wax at a very low heat to protect the finish and help prevent rust. The length options for this poker makes them the perfect gift for anyone with an indoor fireplace, wood burning stove, outdoor firepit, or folks that are frequent Campers or RV'ers! I also forge special fire pokers to order where you pick your length, style etc. Feel free to message me with any questions. Iron is the Traditional 6 year wedding anniversary gift, Steel is the 11th year. The words Iron and Steel are almost always used interchangeably in Blacksmithing due to the availability of materials Items that would have been made from Wrought Iron, are now made from mild low carbon steel, the closest we as modern smiths can find readily available.*** if marked as “gift” the poker will be wrapped in rustic paper with twine and a note explaining that the item was hand forged in rural Appalachia using traditional tooling and techniques. Before being boxed to ship.*** Thanks for checking out my one man blacksmith shop! Carter Conley
