"Old Rugged Cross" with Bark Texture and INRI "scroll" Forged to Finish
from $39.99
The cross pictured is an example of the one I will forge especially for you or the recipient as these make wonderful gifts! These crosses are individually hand forged in the hills of rural Appalachia. starting with two sections of 1/4” thick flat bar, a cross peen hammer is used to flare out the ends of each arm of the cross. Next a special bark texturing tool I made for this task is used to give the cross a bark / tree like texture. A rivet is used to attach the sections of the cross, lastly a tiny piece of flat stock is hand chiseled with INRI and attached to the top of the cross to represent the decree “king of the Jews”. This style of cross evoked a feeling in everyone that saw it on top of my piano before sending it out to its forever home. These crosses are don’t have screw holes to mount, they are shipped with two “crucifixion” nails (horseshoe nails) to place under each arm of the cross. Over all length is roughly 9-10”.
