Basket Twist Fire Poker Functional Art

from $139.99
These elegant fire pokers are hand forged in rural Appalachia. The handle features an ornate basket twist while the shaft of the poker has reverse “wave”twist. A hand forged ring allows the poker to be hung up for display when not in use. The working end is a traditional fire poker designed to be able to hook logs, lift dutch oven lids etc. The overall length on these pokers are roughly 33-36 inches. After forging the fire poker and hot stamping my touch mark I remove any loose forge scale then apply several coats of paste wax at a low heat to achieve a traditional blackened finish and help prevent rust. If a Silver finish is desired all forge scale is removed to reveal the shiny bare metal below before receiving the paste wax finish. The length of this poker makes it perfect for an indoor fireplace, wood burning stove, or outdoor campfire. ***While shipping is "free" to buyers, I’m paying 25-30+$ to ship these due to new shipping rates. I also make custom fire pokers to order where you choose your length, style etc. Feel free to message me with any questions. Iron is the Traditional 6 year wedding anniversary gift, Steel is the 11th year. The words Iron and Steel are almost always used interchangeably in Blacksmithing due to the availability of materials Items that would have been made from Wrought Iron, are now made from mild low carbon steel, the closest we as modern smiths can find readily available.
